We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Game QA Tester to evaluate, playtest, and ensure the performance of upcoming First-Person Shooter (FPS) and Role-Playing Game (RPG) titles for our client. In this role, you will go beyond casual play to actively hunt for bugs, analyze mechanics, test edge cases, and report issues that impact gameplay quality, performance, and overall player experience.
Key Responsibilities
Gameplay & Mechanics Testing: Playtest daily builds of FPS and RPG titles to evaluate combat mechanics, quest progression, AI behavior, map layouts, and weapon/character balancing.
Bug Identification & Reporting: Identify, reproduce, and document software bugs, visual glitches, audio issues, and performance drops with precise steps to reproduce.
Regression Testing: Verify bug fixes and ensure new patches or feature updates do not introduce new issues.
Edge Case Exploration: Deliberately attempt to break game systems, explore boundary limits, and test out-of-bounds areas.
Feedback & Collaboration: Work closely with the development team and client representatives, providing clear, constructive feedback on game feel, balancing, and user experience (UX).
Requirements & Qualifications
Genre Expertise: Strong familiarity and deep enthusiasm for FPS (aim mechanics, collision, multiplayer balancing) and RPG games (leveling systems, inventory UI, quest logic, narrative branching).
Attention to Detail: Ability to spot minor visual bugs, audio desyncs, collision issues, and logic errors.
Clear Communication: Strong written and verbal English communication skills for writing detailed bug reports and reproduction steps.
Problem-Solving Skills: Methodical approach to isolating and consistently reproducing rare or hidden bugs.
Technical Savvy: Comfortable using bug-tracking software (e.g., Jira, Trello, Redmine) or quick to learn standard QA tools.
Nice-to-Haves
Prior experience in software quality assurance, QA testing, or game studio environments.
Experience with platform-specific testing (PC, console, or mobile).
Basic understanding of game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity).
